SAM Korn OM 2000 – 2007, server at St Mary’s Church, Monmouth, has been installed as the Vicar of Aintree by the Bishop of Liverpool at a service in his new church last month.
Sam grew up in the Forest of Dean and Monmouth. After sitting his A-levels at Monmouth School, Sam studied theology as an undergraduate at the University of Cambridge. He then moved to work in St Albans Cathedral in a role which included everything from assisting at the Cathedral Eucharist to sweeping the bell tower (184 steps).
He trained at Westcott House in Cambridge and at the World Council of Churches’ Ecumenical Institute in Bossey, Switzerland.
Following his ordination in 2014, he served his curacy in East Barnet, north London, which is part of the St Albans Diocese.
Sam’s new church is dedicated to St Giles, and his new parish contains the racecourse that is home to the Grand National.
