Design and Technology department would like to host the Institute of Civil Engineers “Bridge to Schools” and give the 1st form the chance to build a 17m long, 3m high version of the Second Severn Crossing as part of their summer term project.
Visit http://tiny.cc/bridgetoschools to watch the ICE’s video.
Using a model cable-stayed bridge, the boys will experience bridge building at first-hand while wearing hard hats, high-vis vests, gloves and goggles.
After the bridges have been built, each boy gets the chance to walk across and test their engineering skills!
If you have had experience of this activity, or are an Engineer that would like to be involved in this STEM activity in the summer term, we would love to hear from you.
