A Soldier’s Life… 1914 and 2018

Captain Rick Longley OM 01 – 06 recently gave an excellent talk and demonstration to the Third Form.

The boys discovered the role of two local regiments in the Great War. They gained a vivid insight into the contributions of territorial soldiers from the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers with those of the regular soldiers of the South Wales Borderers via visits to the museums in Brecon and in Monmouth Castle.

In Brecon they were also invited into Dering Lines by Captain Rick Longley to find out about current training in tactics and in weaponry in an illuminating contrast.

It was a very thought-provoking and enjoyable day which consolidated their learning about the Great War.
